Teaching Kids to Go Green with Books Made from 98% Recycled Materials!
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009Remember when we played outside as kids? There was nothing better than playing at the creek on a lazy summer morning, or playing hide and seek or kick the can with the neighborhood kids on a brisk winter’s day. We left the house at dawn and didn’t return home until well after dark…Things are a little different today; with the “invention” of the Wii, XBox, internet, kids needn’t leave the comfort of their own home (or their friends’ homes) for entertainment. Gone seems the days of curling up with a good book, running from house to house with your friends, riding bikes and playing football in the fields until past dark. The advent and rise of the computer and television is both a blessing and a curse. While convenient tools for learning, shopping and communicating, they can also be a substitute for good clean outdoor fun.
Striking a balance for the health of our children and the future of our planet begins with you, the parent. Children look to you when developing their own habits and attitudes toward the earth, creatures, and cohabitants. Setting an example for them is the first step. As a children’s bookstore owner for more than ten years, and one who has tried to purchase from Innovative Kids as often as I can , as i love, love, love all the publish, I have seen the rise in the publication of not only wonderful books for children aimed at “going green” and the importance, but also books produced in an eco-friendly way…

It’s All About Reading!Â
Kudos to Innovative Kids Publishing!
The green start series is designed to help give kids an awareness of the natural world and an understanding of how we are interconnected with everything around us. By giving kids a green start, it will be that much easier for them to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into their everyday lives as they grow.
This earth-friendly series is made from 98% post-consumer recycled materials and is printed with eco-friendly ink. Each hardcover book’s simple, non-fiction content inspires children to love and respect the natural world, and the parent spread at the back of each book shows how easy it is to practice (and teach!) earth friendly habits right at home.
